PENNSTAR is a joint project between NiSource and UGI Corp. It will provide Marcellus Shale producers in Pennsylvania improved access to high-value markets. An estimated 500,000 Dth/day of transportation capacity will be made available for increased production along NiSource's Columbia Gas Transmission pipeline system in Clearfield, Centre and Clinton counties to interconnections with Transcontinental Gas Pipeline Corp., Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company, Dominion Gas Transmission, Inc., and Millennium Pipeline Company in north central Pennsylvania and southern New York.
At approximately 125 miles in length, the PENNSTAR Pipeline will cross the major interstate pipelines that serve the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states, providing multiple points of access for producers and customers and interchangeability to markets.
We are committed to constructing pipeline facilities in an environmentally responsible manner to minimize the impact on Pennsylvania's land and resources during construction. We will also require that producers and gatherers who access the new line directly have in place the appropriate processes and procedures to operate in compliance with applicable federal and state drilling and gathering regulations.
