NGT&S supports public safety with Banner Volunteer Fire Department grant

JACKSON, Miss. (December 15, 2011) – NiSource Gas Transmission & Storage (NGT&S)’s Columbia Gulf Transmission today announced that it has awarded a NiSource Charitable Foundation grant of $10,000 to the Banner Volunteer Fire Department (Banner VFD) of Bruce, Miss. The grant supports the purchase of emergency equipment used by first responders to traverse rough terrain.

“Safely and efficiently delivering energy to our customers is a source of pride for NGT&S,” said Randal Broussard, vice president Columbia Gulf operations. “We are committed to protecting the safety and well-being of our employees and the members of the communities in which we operate. Supporting our first responders is an integral part of our community outreach program.”

Columbia Gulf Operations Manager J.D. Sellers and Operations Team Leader Ronald Jenkins will present the check to the Banner VFD at the department’s weekly meeting to be held at the Banner fire station on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at 6:30 p.m. CDT.

Banner VFD’s fire protection area encompasses approximately 88 square miles of Mississippi, including Calhoun County, and provides aid to surrounding districts as needed. The department also serves as primary fire protection for Columbia Gulf Transmission’s Banner compressor station.
